This unique beverage combines the bold and robust flavors of our Baltimore Breakfast Tea with the irresistible creaminess of cookie butter. Many people in our tea-loving community have asked us how to make this latte at home. As requested, here is our step-by-step guide to create a cup of comfort that's truly a decadent treat.
- 2 tablespoons of Wight Tea Company's Baltimore Breakfast Tea
- 1 tablespoon of Creamy Cookie Butter
- 150 mL of water
- 1/2 ounce of maple syrup
- 300 mL of milk or milk alternative
- Steep the Tea:
- Heat approximately 150 mL of water to around 195 degrees Fahrenheit. Precision isn't necessary, but avoid using boiling water to prevent bitterness in your tea.
- Place 2 tablespoons of Wight Tea Company's Baltimore Breakfast Tea in a tea infuser in your cup or in a liquid cup measure.
- Pour the heated water over the tea leaves and allow them to steep for 2 to 3 minutes. This steeping time ensures a balanced and flavorful brew.
- Once steeped, strain the tea into your cup using a tea infuser basket or a fine mesh strainer.
- Add Creamy Cookie Butter:
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of Creamy Cookie Butter (we get ours from Lidl) into the brewed tea. Gently mix until the cookie butter is fully melted and incorporated.
- Steam the Milk:
- If you have a milk steamer or frother, use it to steam 300 mL of milk or your preferred milk alternative until it's warm and frothy.
- Don't worry if you lack a steamer – you can create a makeshift double boiler using a pot and a metal bowl. Fill the pot with about 1/2 cup of water and cover it with the metal bowl. Pour your milk into the bowl and heat on low. Whisk the milk until it becomes warm and frothy.
(Be careful when you remove the bowl from the pot, there will be steam! Don't forget to use oven mitts or a towel to lift the bowl, too. You don't want to burn your fingers.)
- Assemble and Enjoy:
- Carefully pour the steamed and frothed milk over the creamy cookie butter-infused tea.
- Drizzle 1/2 ounce of maple syrup into the cup for a touch of natural sweetness. Don't skimp and use maple-flavored corn syrup, there will absolutely be a difference.
