Caffeine-free rooibos, whisked like matcha.

South African red rooibos, ground into a fine powder so you whisk it into your cup instead of steeping it. It's earthy, grassy, nutty and naturally sweet, and it makes a cozy latte at any hour since there's no caffeine.

If you love matcha lattes but want one after dinner, this is the one.

Tip: it's more fibrous than matcha, so it's at its best whisked into a tea latte rather than with water alone.

Flavor notes: earthy, nutty, naturally sweet, a little grassy
Ingredients: red rooibos
Allergens: made in a facility that handles tree nuts.
Caffeine: none

How to Make a Latte

  • Whisk 1.5 teaspoons (3 g) with about 1/3 cup of water (175 to 195°F, or cold) until smooth and frothy.
  • Top with steamed or iced milk to make a 12 oz latte.

Questions

Is this matcha?
No. Matcha is green tea. This is red rooibos, an herbal tea from South Africa, ground the same way, so you make it like matcha.

Can I drink it with just water?
You can, but it's more fibrous than matcha, so we recommend it as a latte.

Does it have caffeine?
No. Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free.

How many drinks does a pouch make?
About 13, at 3 g per 12 oz. Lighter or stronger, that's 10 to 20.

Grainy

Taste is fine, but the powder doesn't dissolve well and makes the tea grainy, even after sifting and extending the whisking time. Would not buy again for that reason.

Hi Vanessa,
Thank you for your feedback! We appreciate you providing your honest opinion, though I'm sorry to hear you weren't a big fan. If you still have some of your Red Rooibos left, and are open to suggestions, I'd love to offer some tips on how you might enjoy it more next time!

Red Rooibos Powder is a lot like Matcha in that it doesn't actually dissolve which is why it naturally has a gritty texture. To fix this, we recommend using your favorite dairy or non-dairy milk to help cut the grittiness and suspend the powder so you aren't left with too much powder at the end of your drink.
If you're already using the powder in a latte, we recommend using less powder per drink or making a smaller beverage (try a 4-6oz mug instead of an 8oz mug). This might help because you'll finish your drink faster instead of letting it sit long enough for the powder to settle.

If all else fails and you can't get the right consistency (but still enjoy the flavor), we'd highly recommend using your leftover Red Rooibos Powder for baking! We've tried some recipes for cookies and cakes; they are delightful!

Please feel free to reach out to us directly if you'd like any other tips on how to best brew your Red Rooibos Powder--we want you to love it to its full potential!

Thank you!
